Tournament Results:


 The SIWGA launched its first “Tournament  on May 16 at Silver Lake Golf Course, welcoming nine teams of four golfers for a competitive and spirited “Best 2 of 4” tournament format.


In the Gross Division, the foursome of Louise Lawson, Brenda Meyers, Patty Ruch and Connie Burns captured first place with an impressive score of 169. Finishing in second place with a score of 174 was the team of Nancy Edwards, Cathy Bocchicchio, Kim Buttermark and Jill Buttemark.


The Net Division featured equally strong play, with Janis Grasso, Carol Zaderiko, Cathy Magill and Cathy Viverito taking top honors after posting a winning score of 134.


A closely contested race for second place ended in a match-of-cards tiebreaker after two teams finished with identical scores of 144. Earning second place honors were Ellen Gribbin, Joanne Gerenser, Amy Powell and Paula Boulay. Just behind them following the tiebreaker was the team of Elissa Barry, Joanne Baranello, Laura Delin and Debbie Rusolo.


The event marked a successful and exciting start for SIWGA’s season, highlighted by strong competition, teamwork and camaraderie among the players at Silver Lake Golf Course.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – June 14, 2026 – The Staten Island Women's Golf Association (SIWGA) hosted its annual Captain and Her Crew Tournament on Sunday, June 14, at LaTourette Golf Course, with teams competing in both Gross and Net divisions.


Claiming first place gross honors was the foursome of Jolie Rae Riley, Amy Powell, Joanne Gerenser, and Maria S Caldarella, who carded an impressive 66 to top the field.


Finishing in second place gross with a score of 69 was the team of Louise Lawson, Patty Ruch, Connie Burns, and Brenda Meyers


The score was decided by a match of cards over the team of Jill Buttermark, Nancy Edwards, Cathy Bocchicchio, and Siene Anderson, who also posted a 69.


In the Net Division, the team of Insoon Kang, Eunjung Kim, Inja Song, and Insook Yang captured first place with an outstanding 53 net.


Taking second place net was the foursome of Eileen McKee, Lynn Basile, Dot Ferrari, and Irene Rea, who finished with a score of 57.


Third place was determined by a match of cards after two teams posted identical scores of 58. Earning third-place net honors were Laura Delin, Debbie Rusolo, Elissa Barry, and Joanne Baranello, edging the team of Lynda Preziosa, Paula Boulay, Noreen DeGaetano, and Dot Gulman on the tiebreaker.

SIWGA Members Honor Those Who Have Played Through at Memorial Classic

The Staten Island Women's Golf Association (SIWGA) gathered at South Shore Golf Course on July 12th for its annual Memorial Classic, a tournament dedicated to remembering the women who have played the game before us. With a field of 30 golfers enjoying beautiful weather and friendly competition, the day was filled with great golf and plenty of memorable moments.


Players competed in three flights—Super Senior, Senior, and Women's Division—with both gross and net champions crowned. The tournament also featured popular skill contests, including Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin.


In the Women's Division, Jolie Rae Riley earned top gross honors with an excellent 85. The net competition saw Adrienne Graziano take first place with a 73, while Laura Delin finished a close second with a 74. Kim Buttermark claimed the Longest Drive title, and Riley added another win to her collection by winning Closest to the Pin.


The Senior Division featured some excellent scoring as Connie Burns took first-place gross with an 89, followed by Sookhee Kim in second with a 92. In the net competition, Loretta O'Hara finished first with a 74, Noreen DeGaetano placed second with a 75, and Brenda Meyers rounded out the top three with a 78. Burns also powered her way to the Longest Drive title. 


In the Super Senior Division, Louise Lawson captured the gross title with a 96, while Diane Buglioli claimed first-place net with a 77. Eunsook Kim earned second place in the net division. Lawson wasn't finished, adding victories in both the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin competitions.


While the scorecards determined the champions, the true spirit of the Memorial Classic was reflected in the friendships, laughs, and shared memories throughout the day. SIWGA members once again proved that honoring those who came before us is best done with a round of golf, plenty of smiles, and maybe just a little friendly competition.

The 2026 Staten Island Women’s Golf Association (SIWGA) Women’s Amateur Championship got underway on Saturday, August 15, with the qualifying round held at South Shore Golf Course. Nine competitors took to the course, facing challenging conditions that tested every part of their games. Despite the difficult day, the field produced some impressive scores and set the stage for an exciting championship match-play competition. The competitors in the qualifying round were Stacie MacCourtney, JolieRae Riley, Ellen Gribbin, Jill Buttermark, Mayuko Perpetua, Carolyn Raia, Joanne Baranello, Diane Buglioli and Lynda Preziosa. Sunday brought the quarterfinal matches at LaTourette Golf Course, where the competition intensified. 
Last year’s Championship Flight winner, Stacie MacCourtney, continued her title defense with a victory over Joanne Baranello. JolieRae Riley advanced over Jill Buttermark, while Ellen Gribbin defeated Diane Buglioli. Mayuko Perpetua rounded out the semifinal field with a sudden death victory on the 19th hole, over Carolyn Raia.  With the quarterfinals complete, four players remain in contention for the 2026 SIWGA Women’s Amateur Championship. 
The semifinals will be played at Silver Lake Golf Course on Saturday, August 22. In one highly anticipated matchup, Ellen Gribbin will face JolieRae Riley. On the other side of the bracket, defending champion Stacie MacCourtney will take on Mayuko Perpetua. The winners of those semifinal matches will meet for the championship at Richmond County Country Club on Sunday, August 23. With a defending champion still in the hunt and three challengers looking to claim the title, the final weekend promises to deliver exciting golf and a new chapter in the SIWGA Women’s Amateur Championship.
